Evangelization statement - Sohel Makhoul

Evangelization statement
The fundamental challenge which we face today at our village is learning the art of living. In the words of his holiness pope Benedict XVI, by learning the art of living in Christ, we can then be happy. Sadly, in our Community there is a progressive process of de-Christianization. Many in our village do not find the evangelization of the church as essential part of daily living. Others have been exposed and drawn to non-Christian teaching. This is partly due to the absence of a local church, in our village since its establishment in 1950s. His holiness John Paul the II wrote that ' It is in the local churches that the specific features of a detailed pastoral plan can be identified — goals and methods, formation and enrichment of the people involved, the search for the necessary resources — which will enable the proclamation of Christ to reach people, mould communities, and have a deep and incisive influence in bringing Gospel values to bear in society and culture". My beloved brothers and sisters, we are not merely looking to build another church or institution, we aim to know Christ, to love Christ, imitate Christ and be assimilated in Christ, and proclaim his glory to all members of the human kind. To do so the Congregation is thirsty to a Church building and a Community Centre through which we can bring Gospel values to the people and Community. In addition, we must present Christ to our young people. This can be done by investing in our young persons, by giving them the opportunity to know Christ; For example, the Community Centre will be used for a Sunday school and Youth Christian programs. This young generation, armed with the values of the gospel and true 'Justice' of God, can serve the wider Community and mediate between rivals in this volatile region of the word. Through this Church and Community centre, in addition to rejuvenation the teaching of Christ among our own non-practicing Christians, we aim to bring the gospel to all fractions of the Israeli Society.
